The New Senior
It has been said that 65 is the new 45. (Then someone said: “If 65 is the new 45, then why are they still calling it 65”?) Well, we know that today’s elders are not necessarily “elderly”! Today’s seniors are generally more robust, mobile, affluent, and forward thinking than their predecessors. After all, those just now entering senior-hood experienced the Beatles, Rock & Roll, the Vietnam War, the space race, a man on the moon, and some of the most important events of the 20th and 21st Centuries! The Sundance Kid, Robert Redford (74), could be the face of the new senior! The new seniors worked hard at their careers, and are used to being active and involved. …..And they’re not done yet; they’re looking forward to the next chapter. Age no longer needs to be an obstacle to living a fulfilling and interesting life. Heading for the Nursing Home does not have to be a natural outcome of aging.
But this does not mean that the baby boomers and other elders senior to them are immune to the effects of aging. That’s why ELDER ACHIEVERS provides services for today’s seniors that can ensure ongoing independence. For many, a little help can make the difference between maintaining control, or losing a degree of independence.
